Wellington, this day. VAILES RAILWAY SCHEME. Arrangements have been made by Mr S. Vaile to address a meeting of members tomorrow at Parliament Buildings in support of his scheme of railway management. | STOCK DRIVING. The Driving Clauses Stock Bill arousod considerable discussion at a meeting of tho Joint Stock Committee yesterday, and were oventually modified by a provision that they only should become operative by an Ordor-in-Council, made upon a petition of a majority of stock owners in any district. This amendment is not likely to be accepted by the Minister for Lands. A SENSATION EXPLODED. Tho report of the Public Petitions Committee on the alteration in the public works statomont of last year was presented when the House mot this afternoon. After fully dotailing the circumstances, tho report states, "From tho evidence civen the Committee finds that Mr Seddon did nob alter the Public Works Statement; nor waa he informed of the alteration until the sth October, during tho debate on the motion to go into Supply. Ho then asked Mr Blow for an explanation of the error, which had been referred to by the Hon. Mitchelson and Hon. Richardson, and was informed by Mr Blow that it was an error, and that ho had corrected ib. Tho Committee expresses the opinion that in acting as he did Mr Blow waa guilty of "grave indiscretion." This ends the ineidont of which the Opposition attempted to mako so much by way of discrediting tho Premier. The latter is shown to have been absolutely correct in all his statements regarding the error. JOTTINGS. It is understood that Sir Julius Vogel's petition was withdrawn with the intention of presenting ib to tho new Parliament.
