A SHOCKING OCCURRENCE.
A WAN- TERRIBLY BURNED.
(BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, tbia day. A shocking affair happened hers last night. A man named Willis, a night3ci! contractor, w*s gome His rounds when a kerosene lamp that was strapped round his body exploded. At tho sams time bis. horse bolted, and Willia instead" of attendieg to himself went after the horse. Having caught the aaimal he tried to take the lamp off himself, but could not do so, and his clothes rapidly becamu a mass of fira. Everything was burned off him except hie legcings, and he wae terribly injured. H6 was discovered about 1 o'clock a.m. in the road, by a mac named Joans ton, whos6 doe roused him up, Willis wa» quite naked, except his leggings, which were still burning, Johnston too& him into his house and sent tor a doctor. The poor fellow was forwarded to tha Wuipukurau Hospital by the first train thi3 morning.
