THE 'FRISCO MAIL
PRECAUTIONS AGAINST CHOLERA.
ENGLISH MAILS TO BE
FUMIGATED.
It was arranged to-day, as the result of communication with the authorities at Wellington, to fumigate the English mails by the incoming mail-steamer, the Mariposa, Irom San Francisco, wj^icb arrived in port this afternoon, as a precautionary raeaeoro against the introduction of any stray germs of cholera.
The Union Steamship Company, agents for the mail - steamer, this afternoon arranged, in view of the sudden arrival of the 'Frisco mail boat this afternoon, for the signalman at Manukau Heads to signal the g.s. Mahinapua, which left Onehunga Wharf early this afternoon for Wellington, in order to detain her to take on the Southern portion of the ocean mall. In the event of it being too late to communicate with the Mahinapua, the Northern Steamship Company's s.s. Gairloch, also bound from Onehunga to New Plymouth and Wellington, was to be stopped at the Heads and instructed to return and await the mails.
