Several of the disbricb correspondents of the " New Zealand Farmer " in their letters for the September issue, jusb published, refer to the greab improvement of labe in the agricultural and pastoral prospects of their districts. With respect to North and Mid Canterbury one correspondent reports: —"Assertions bo the contrary notwithstanding, thero is a lively demand for farms. A good farm of any size or description— eibher grain, dairy or sheep—will not hang long on tho vendor's hands if hia price is fair, but the principal inquiry is for farms of 100 to 200 acres of good land conveniently situated. Such, however, are poldom in the market. Mosb of the large blocks that were put in the markeb, bub not sold by auction, have since been sold without the owners having to reduce their dowands." i
