Wellington, this day. The North Island Trunk Railway Route Committee held its lirsb meeting to-day, and appointod Mr Wright Chairman. It meets again to-morrow to commence taking evidence, and it is understood the Hon. Mr Cadmnn will be the first witness examined. Mr F. Lawry and Mr Jackson Palmer will also be prepared to give evidence which will k«ep the Committee engaged till other witnesses sent by the League arrive here^ The Committee has requested Mr McGuire and Mr Smith, the Taranaki members, to forward the names of the witnesses that they may wish to call.
