NORTHERN ATHLETIC CLUB.
The sports of tho Northern Athletic Club were hold in tho Auckland Domain on April 30th. Messrs G. Mcßride and J. Ryan wore judges, Mr M. Quinlan time-koeper, and Mr Foley starter, while tho secretarial duties wero ably performed by Mr A. H. Trubshaw. The following are the results of the racing :— Boys' Race (100 yards). —J. Tunny, 4yds, 1 ; A. Long, scratch, 2. Time, 12sec. Cup Handicap (100 yards).—First heat : A. Pearson, scratch, 1; VV. Purdy, 2yds, 2 ; R. Keenan, 2yds, 3. T. Hicks (Byds) also ran. Won by \ yard. Time, lOsee. Second heat : F. Peace, syds, 1; S. Robert?, 4yds, 2; T. Shelly, 6|yds, 3. J. Frost) (7yds). also ran. Won by a braast. Time, llsec. Final heat: A. Pearson, scratch, 1 ; F. Peace, syds, 2 ; W. Purdy, 2yds, 3. Time, 10 l-sth sec. One Mile Walk.—W. A. Welsh, 75yds, 1 ; A. Brady, scratch. 2. Time, 7min lOsec. Halt-mile Handicax-.—Donnelly, 35yds, 1; J. Hicks, 42yds, 2; A. E. Smith, 15yds, 3. Time, 2min 4sec. 300Yr>s Hurdles.— J. Oliver, ]2yds, 1; J. Moore, 20yds, 2; O. Riley, 20yds, 3. Time, 45sec. Sack Hurdle Race.—Six started for this event, which was won by Cutler, with O. Riley second. Tug -of - War, — Much interest was centred in this contest. Two teams competed, representing tho Auckland Navals and the Orakei Maoris. Tiie Maoris won both pulls very easily. 200 yds Handicap.—A. Pearson, scratch, 1 ; J. Moore, 13yds, 2 • F. Peace, 9yds, 3. Time, 21suc. One Mile Handicap.—Donnelly, 55yds, 1 ; \V. Huckstep, 47yds, 2; Barry, 60yds, 3. Time, 4min 42sec.
