LODGE ARA, N.Z.C.
An interesting meeting of members of Lodge Ara, No. 1, N.Z.C., was held last nighb in the Freemasons' Hall, Princesstreet, when there was a large attendance, the W.M., Brother Chapman, presiding. Seven candidates wero proposed for nomination, and four, who being present, were duly initiated. Five brethren were also affiliated from other lodge?. Tho following officers were nominated for the ensuing year:—W.M., Bro. A. S. Russell; S.W., Bro. Dexter; J. XV., Bro. Wostpfahl; Secretary, Bro. G. XV. Basley ; Treasurer, Bro. A. Kidd ; S.D., Bro. A. Bartlett; J.D., Bro. S. Hughes; Director of Ceremonies, Bro. G. Powley ; Organist, Bro. Webb ; 1.G., Bro, XV. Cousins ; S.S., Bro. Bancroft; J.S., Bro. Dixon ; Director of Music, Bro. Carl Schmitt; Tyler, Bro. E. Tonge.
Tho selection of Brother R-ussell as W.M. for the coming year was mentioned as peculiarly fitting in thab he is the oldest Past Master.at present in that Lodge. The will be the jubilee of Ara, and consequently tho brethren wished to have Bro. Russell once more in the chair. LODGE ST. ANDREW. At the ordinary meebing of Lodge StAndrew, No. 8, N.Z.C., Bro. XV. Thomas was in the chair. Five candidates were put through various degrees. A circular was read stating that £1.740 had been already contributed towards Bro. Gould's annuity, with which it is proposed to buy an annuity of £100 per annum. A voto of sympathy was passed with Bro. Tonge.
