The drapers and clothiers' annual picnic I 1 was held on Good Friday at K.me Bay, en j
the island of Motutapu, and was, considering tho very unpleasant and blustering weather, a successful outing. The atterr.oon's athletic events resulted as follows :— 100 yds Race : J. Atkins syds, dead heat for first place. Sack Race : Heath, 1 ; Wilson, 2 ; Dickfc °l.oyds, opon : F. M. Gatenby, 16yds, 1 ; R Onycn, 10yds, 2 : 11. Goldwater, syds, 3. Half-mile : W. E. Cossar, 60yds, 1 ; J. Varney, 20yds, 2; F. M. Gatenby 45yds, 3. Novelty Raco : Noonen, 1; Self, 2 ; Dick- " Three-legged Race : Co3sar and Atkins, 1 ; Chap.pel and Noonen, 2. _ Bandsmen's Race : Hobbin, 1. Steeplechase : W. E. Cossar, 150 yds, 1 ; F. Atkins, 20yds, 2 ; IL N. Cossar, 70yds, ' Tuc-o'-War: Courb Brothers' beam won this event, with Smith and Caughey s team second. Human Wheelbarrow Race: Heath and Jeffries, 1 ; Chappel and Noonen, 2.
