CHRYSANTHEMUM SOCIETY'S SHOW.

The forthcoming Annual Show of the Auckland Chrysanbhemum Socieby, which is bo be held in the Choral Hall noxb week, promises to be fully up to the standard of excellence of the previous ones. The entries closed on Thursday aiternoon, and, notwithstanding the Shew being held so late, the number of exhibits is very numerous, and quite equal to those of last year. The members of bhe Society aro showing a great deal of interest and attention in the cultivation of the plants and several now and choice varietios of blooms are expected to be shown. Two new features in this year's Show—table decorations and a second division for the smaller growers in the amateur class—have proved very successful, and brought oub some very keen competition. Good entries have also been received for the bouquets. Tho Committee are working energetically to make the Show a3 attractive as possible, and amongst other features there will bo a prand"concerb given, in which some of our leading balent will bake parb, and a ladies' afternoon tea will be provided, so thab tho Committee deservedly anticipate a largo attendance during the Show days. The opening day of the Show happens to clash with the farewell concert bo be tendered to Mr T. M. Jackson on his departure to Australia, and the Committee desire it to be made known thab owing to the date of tlio Show having been fixed nearly nine months previously they wero unable to alter their dates, otherwise they should like to have assisted in giving Mr Jackson a good send-off in any possible way,
