CITY COUNCIL.
The City Council met on Thursday evening. On the motion of Cr. Swales ib was resolved, " That the Engineer be instructed to havo the channels in Bayard-street concreted wibhoub delay, in order bo remove the existing nuisance." Retaining Wall.—Further correspondence wa3 received with reference to tho collapsed retaining wall in Queen-streefc. — lb was resolved to offer Messrs Cooke Bros, the sum of £30 without prejudice, subject to the approval of the Engineer, for the purpose of re-building the wall. Leaseholds. — Messrs M. Browne, T. and H. Cooko, J. Ehrman, C. Henderson, A. Adams, and W. H. Skinner, city leaseholders, asked for continued abatement of rel ,t, —Referred to the Endowments Committee. Coal.—lt was decided to accept the bwo tenders for Taupiri (Mr J. J. Craig's) and Kamo coal (Mr Smith), for periods of three months alternately, the tenders to exbend over one year. Prospect-street.—A petition for a lamp and scoria in Prospect-street, Ponsonby, was referred to the ward members with power bo act.
