C.J.C. AUTUMN MEETING.

While local turfites assemble at Ellerslie, our Southern friends will hold high carnival at Kiccarton. The fixture promises to be an unusually good one for this period of the year. Excellent final acceptances have been received for the leading events, and the racing should be of a high-class order. The Champagne Stakes of SOOsovs has attracted Stepniak, Vogengang, Whakawatea, Day Dream and Launcoston, so that tho juvenile championship of the colony for the season will be practically decided. My fancy is Whakawatea, but if Stepniak is really at tip-top it should be a great babtle. Ton made tho final payment for the Great Autumn Handicap on Thursday night last, and thirteen remain in tho Easter Handicap, 7 furlongs. I think Cruchfield or Eoulangof will win the Autumn Handicap. Tho names of the horses who havo finally paid up for the three leading races are as follows Great Autumn Handicap, one mile and ahalf. sf lb stlb Morrie England 813 Paliiser .. .. 710 Boulanscer .. 8 10 Kulnine .. ..7 9 Cruchfield .. 810 The Dreamer .. 7 2 Crackshot .. 8 9 Heather 801 1.. 7 6 Prime Warden ... 8 2 Ilium .. .. 6 9 The Gkeat Eastek Handicap, savon furlongs.
