SIR GEORGE GREY
Man of the honest heart and open hand, Our country's bosb and bravest, who has won The God ■ like title of the poor man's friend, Yet enemy of none. All hail, Sir George ! patriotic, just, Far-seeing statesman, liberal, daring soul, Ripened by time; brother whom all may trust, Yet none cajole. The land thou'st benefited, loved' and blessed, Through good and ill reporb has tried to prove In birthday greeting that thou arb her besb, And gives thee love. And may Our Father lengthen oub thy day, And glad thy hearb with fruitage of thy toil, Show theo fair homesteads where the name of Grey Made deserts smile. For like a charm o'er all tho pleasant land Thy name shall lighten labour, and shall be A watchword for free millions to demand That earth bo f.:ee. M, S. Peace.
