The Auckland Racing Club Committee considered the matter yesterday, and decided not to entertain the application. The South Auckland Racing Club have fixed the day of their Autumn Meeting for Saturday, 23rd April. Cruchfield has been scratched for all engagements at the forthcoming Wanganui Jockey Club Meeting, Palliser and Lebel have been, scratched for the Wanganui Cup, and Ravenswood for the Wanganui Derby. A race meeting of soven events is to come off on the Mangatangi racecourse on Saturday, March sth. Nominations for the Lake Takapuna races close next Friday. Loch Ness and Scot Free were brought back from Gisborne this week. The pair are located at Green Lano, to take part in tho Onslow Meeting. The South Franklin Racing Club can boast of having 90 members. George Wright has taken Fabulous and Rataplan in hand again. An Aucklander, tinder the norn deplume of "Prospero," won first honours in the horse-naming competition of tho Wellington Park yearlings, organised by the " Weekly Press and Referee." " Sir Launcelob" announces tho death of tho brood maro Puriki, who died a few days ago at Mr G. H. Clifford's station at Stonyhurst, North Canterbury, leaving behind her a fine colb foal by Stonyhurst, which is old enough to be weaned Puriki was bred by Mr H, Redwood, in 1874, and was a half-

sister to the Canterbury Derby winner, Hornby, being by Towton (imp.) out of Toi Toi, by St. Aubyn (imp.)—Waimea, by Sir Hercules. Mr Evett's handicaps for the Onslow farewell meeting make their appearance on Monday. Colonal Fraser's yearling colt, by King Cole—Rosalind, has been brought up to Auckland from Blenheim. I hear the colt has gone into the Kohimarama stable.
