ST. SEPULCHRE'S.
Archdeacon Dudley presided at the meeting of the St. Sepulchre's parishioners in the schoolroom, Symonds-sbreet, last evening. A tribute was paid to the memory of the late Mr G. P. Pierce, and it was stated that £28 5s had been received for the pulpit in his memory. The report is in the main satisfactory, though it shows a shrinkage of £11 17s 4d for the ordinary purposes fund. A sum of £75 Vad been received from Messrs Choyce and Cooper, treasurers of the debt fund, who Itill hold £3 12s, and a further promise of £6, payable as soon as the contributions to this fund will, with the £6, make up £150—the amount originally asked for ; £15 8s is required for this object. The bond debt is now a thing of the past, and when the above sum of £15 8s is received, and the rent of the paddock, all debta will be paid wibh the exception of the mortgage on the parsonage; the church free. The organ fund stands at £42115s 9d, and when there is £800 in hand a new instrument will be ordered. The report gives a long account of the work done during the year. During the year, ifc was- further reported, there had been 76 baptisms, 17 marriages, 37 persons had been confirmed, and the total number of receptions of the Holy Communion had been 2,159, 160 members being now registered in. the churchwardens' books.
The following balance-sheeb was submitted : — Receipts : General purposes, £675 19s Id ; epecial purposes, £118 6s Id ; donations, £51 Iβ; special donations towards extinction of church debt, £75; epecial donations towards alms, £13 18s 5d : Total, £934 4s 7d. The expenditure had been as follows: —Stipend and salaries, £430; epecifil offertories, £140 4a 7d;
special donations, £50; special experiees, £52 10s ; alms, etc., £15 12s 7d : sundries, £237 Is Id : Total, £925 Sa 3d. The following appointments were made : —Chas. Cooper, clergyman's churc.iwarden ; J. B. GUfiUan, people's churchwarden ; auditors, Messrs A. Ashbon, L. Laweon ; vestrymen, Messrs W. C. Cut), C. Hudson, J. Batger, H. N. Uarland, H. C. Choyce, G. Harker, J. B. Stoncy, 0. Tunk?, T. Charter, and Captain Morrow. It was settled that the enlarged edition of the Ancient and Modern Hymns should be introduced.
