THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION AND THE MOUNT ALBERT SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
(To the Editor.) g lK) _The Mount Albert School Committee have scored one against the Board in their recent contest, though their list was practically reduced to two teachers, for their action ou the 9fch and 17th current, had the ofleet of putting-one out of consideration. Tho Executive Committee of the Board had a wider range, bub they wisely did not interfere with the recommendation of the School Committee, and appointed Mr Whitham. Tho idea T wished to place before them on the evening of the 9th was that the Board should be asked for a fre?h list, with live names, in order to sivo the School Committee a better chance; but Mr Martin would not nut his suggestion for another list in the form of a motion (I had offered to second it), and so the Board's list of three names for that evening was completely if r.ored. Mr Udy knew very well that tho Chairman wanted a married man. T v/anted'a man with a wife and family, nnd went; so far in this direction as to ask Mr -Whithnm bow many children he hac. I nover lost sight of the teacher's house, and wished to see it well filled, knowing from the action of tho School Committee that the choice only lay between Mr Stevens and Mr Whitham.—l am, etc., J. L. Sinclair.
