SLAUGHTER-HOUSE LICENSES.
A xmiuKß. of applications for renewals of eJaiiyhter-house licenses were dealt with at tho Police Court to-day by Mr H. W. Bishop, R.M., ajid.Messrs F. 0. Ewington, J. (jlordon, and J. Tizard, J. P.'.-?. Applif'dtions niii;le by Enoch Wood, Caleb Wood, and the Auckland Freezing Company were granted. An application was made for renewal of a license for a slaugliter-houso at Ellerslie, tenanted by Mr Buckland.
Mr E. Cooper appeared on bohalf of the application,, and Mr A. E. Devore on behalf of. the Mount' Wellington Board of Health, opposing the license, and contending that the slaugntcr-house vvas not pr.operly conducted.
Evidciice was given by Mr Kelsey, Colonel iJawson (clmirinan Mount Wollington Board of Health), and Mr Howard, inspector for the district.
John Batger, secretary to the Auckland Building Society, owners of the premises in question, .said that as far as he knew, the slaughter.house was in good order, and was conducted satisfactorily.
The Bench adjourned the further hearing of the case until this afternoon, and intimated that the decision in the case would be given on Thursday next.
