This evening the ferry eteamers Eagle and Britannia will make trips round tho harbour, leaving the Ferry Tee at 11 p.m. and returning to the wharf at 12.15 a.m. A New Year's vvatch.night service is to beheld tonight in the V.M.C.A. Almost every steamer in the harbour has been pressed into service for the' day, many being chartered by picnic parties for a day's outing. .'.',' .As usual the Devon port Ferry Company are to tho fore with special arrangements in connection with, the ferry service to the North Shore, Northcote, and Birkenbead, and these breezy localities will, as a matter of course, bevery largely visited by townspeople. The Victoria will also make two trips to Lake Takapuna, leaving the Ferry tee at 10 a.m. and 1.30 p.m., returning from the Lake at 4.15 p.m.. Mahdrasgi Heads and Waiwera.—As Qustomary on the holidays, the Northern Steamship Company have placed their two smart steamers Wellington and Clansman on the excursion " berth " for tho abovementioned resorts for New Year's Day. The Wellington is to leave the Queen-street Wharf at 10 a.m. to-morrow for Waiwera, and the Clansman at the pp.me time for Maliurangi Heads, the return fare in each case being three shillings. Bands will be in attendance on board to enliven the trips with music, and luncheon will be provided on the steamers. On Saturday the Clansman will run another excursion to Mahurangi Head?, as will also the s.s. Rose Casey. >St. Helier's Bay.—The favourite picnic resort of St, Helier's will without doubt be very liberally patronised by visitors tomorrow, as a.trip down to it affords a very cheap, pleasant and easy outing. The D.F. Co.'s popular steamers. Eagle and Britannia will run regular trips to the Bay from town during the day, at tho usual cheap rates. Motutapu.—The pretty island home of Messrs Reid Bros, is, with the owners' kind permission, to form the rendezvous of several picnic parties to-morrow. The principal trip announced is that of the Hauraki Steamship Company's fine new steamer Paeroa, which is to tniike a public excursion to Home Bay, leaving the .Queenstreet Wharf at 10 a.m. The return fare is two shillings. The s.s. Ruby will also run an excursion trip to Motutapu, leaving town at 9.30 a.m. for Home Bay. Waiueke.—The.s.s. Rose Casey is announced to run a special excursion down to the pretty locality of Putiki Bay, Waiheke Island, to-morrow, leaving the wharf at 10 a.m., and returning about 7 p.m. Excursionists can rely on a smooth-water trip and a comfortable landing >vith ample time onshore. The return fare is 2?. Luncheon will be provided on board. ; Fishing Excursion*. — The s.s. Maori will leave the Queen-street Wharf at 10 a.m tomorrow on a cruise down to the well-known fishing grounds near Rakino Island, the fare being two shillings.

MoTuniT.—To-Diori - ow the s.s. Waitoa will leave the Queen-street Wharf at 8.30 a.m. on an excursion to Motuihi, and will land her'passengers afc the wharf near the Quarantine Station. The return fare is two shillings. On Saturday (January 2nd) the s.s. Paeroa will convey the mem bers of the " A " Battery of Artillery and their friends down to Motuilii for their annual picnic, leaving the wharf at 9 a.m., the Artillery Band, being present. SATA'ATro.N* AttiuY.—The Salvation Army hold oponair services at St. HelierVßay tomorrow, and also in the Barracks ab 7.45 p.m. By request the White Robed Songsters will repeat some of the items rendered-on Christmas morning. SUNDAY-SCHOOL UNION FESTIVAL. The Auckland Sunday-school Union annual festival will be held in the Domain tomorrow.
