GUM MARKET.
Auckland. December 31, IS9L
In our last monthly report we advised this market as unsettled, and prices then apparently falling. Since that date ordinary has fallen about £6, which must, however, be somewhat discounted by the fact that the quality of supplies ha? already fallen off owing to early summer and other causes. Ea3b Coast has experienced little change, bub 13 in less demand. The supplies from mail to mail are about 617 tons, and for the year JB9l about 7,726 tons. The Mentone sailed via Wellington on 16th instant, with about 167 tons gum for New York, for which port the Essex "sailed on 24th instant with aboub 353 tons, to be followed by the Flora aboub the end of January. The s.p. Maori in addition to 70 tons already advised takes 192 tons for London. We quote : — Ordinary ._ ■• _ £40 Poor ordinary (nominal)... £25 to £30 Unpicked ordinary, upwards from £44 Easb Coast .... £70 to £73
