MASONIC.
The ceremony of installation of R.W.M. and investiture of officers for the ensuing year took place at Lodge Wairoa on Dec. 7tb. After the ordinary routine business had been transacted, the D.G. Superintendent, Bro. M. Niccol, took the ahair and installed the R.W.M., Bro D. Crawford, as master for the ensuing year. Other officers were invested as follows : Bro. Fraser, D.M. ; Bro. J. Walker, S. M. ; Bro. Poynter, S. VV. ; Bro. Grainger, J, W. ; Bro. Stephens, secretary and treasurer; Bro. Tibbutb, S.D. ; Bro. Walsh, J.D. ; Bro. Wafcerton, J.G.
The annual meeting of Lodge Sir Walter ifScotb, No. 15, New Zealand Constitution, was held on December 15, in the Freemasons' Hall for the installation of officers for the ensuing year. Brothers Niccol and Murray spoke in most feeling terms of tho loss that the craft had sustained by the death of Bro. Sir Frederick Whitaker, who had been a member of Lodge Sir Walter Scobb for some years. In fact, he had been affiliated into Scotch Masonry in the Lodge so as to be enabled to take the high position of Provincial Grandmaster under the Scotch Constitution. A. vote of condolence was passed to the family in their affliction.
The installation of officers in connection with Lodge Sb. Andrew, 418, S.C., took place on Dec. 28 in , the Masonic Hall, Princes-street. Bro. \V. Wilkinson was installed R.W.M. by R.W.P.G.M. Depute Bro; W. McCullough, assisted by Past Masters Gould, Anderson, Baddilly, and Slator. The other officers invested were as follows:—D.M., Bro. W. McCullough ; S.M., Bro. Jas. Slator ; S.W., Bro. W. Laird ; J.W., Bro. T. Cantley ; Treasurer, Bro. R. Farrell ; Secretary, Bro. A. Brodie, P.M.; Chaplain, Bro. Rev. F. Gould; S.D., Bro. W. Caron ; J.D., Bro. J. W. Harrison ; 8.C., Bro. H. M. Shepherd ; 8.8., Bro. C. Johnston ; S.S., Bro. J. Crisp ; J.S., Bro. G. Johnston ; 1.G., Bro. J. Shaldrick ; Tyler, Bro. E. Tonge. After the installation ot officers, Bro. Gould was presented with a PastMaster's jewel, as a mark of esteem from the members of Lodge St. Andrew.
The greali respect Bro. T. Thomne is held in among brethren of the New Zealand Constitution of Freemaeons was fully shown on Dec. 11 by the large number of the craft who assembled in the Masonic Hall, Princes-street. The R.W.M. elect, Bro Thomas, was presented by Bros. Basley and J. W. Ellison to the Installing Master, Grand Superintendent) Brother Malcolm Niccol. Subsequently he installed his officers as follows :— Bro. W. H. Cooper, P.M., Secretary ; H. C. Tewsley, I.P.M. ; Bro. W. T. Briggs, D. of Ceremonies; Bro. R. B. Symon, D.M.; Bro. G. M. Reid, SJ).; Bro, Jas.
Anderson, S.M. ; Bro. P. A. Duncan, J.D. ; Bro. J. Gutbrie, S.W. ; Bro. W. A. Harvey, LG. ; Bro.D. H. Roas, J. W.; Bro. E. Langley, S.S.; Bro. Dr. Walker, P.M., Organist; Bro. J. D. Webster, J.S. ; Bro. T. Ellison, P.M., Treasurer; Bro. M. McCulsky, 8.8. j Bro. E. Tonge, Tyler. Daring the evening Bro. Tewsley wae presented on behalf of the Lodge with a most handsome jewel by Bro, Niecol. Bro. Teu'sley suitably replied, A handsome set of rnalleta given to the Lodge by Bro. N". McCulsky were delivered to the various officers, and Bro. Thomas returned thanks to the Grand Superintendent for acting as Installing Master, to tha orchestra, who so greatly aided the proceed* ings, to the visiting brethren, and also thosa connected with Lodge St. Andrew. Before closing, Bro. Niecol made febling reference to the death of Bro. Sir Frederick Whitaker.
