QUEEN'S COLLEGE SPORTS.
The annual sports in connection with Dr. A. McArthur's well-known school, Queen's College, wei'O held in the Domain this raorniner- The weather was perfect, though rather hot for competitors. The events were run off to time, all the arrangements perfect. In the afternoon there was a larfro attendance of the boys' friends. Dr. A. McArthur, tho head master, ncted as starter till tho afternoon, when Professor CarroUo took the post. ."."■ ~ " . The judges were: Messrs R. B. Lusk, J. 8. Bollard, and C. T. Major ; the timekeepers, Messrs G. VV. Owen and G. Fair. The en trios for all evcnt3 wore excellent, and some capital racing was witnessed. The half mile vas a specially exciting race, resulting in a dead heat between-H. Macky and J. Dixon, A. Langdale, a small com-, petitor, running vjjth great pluck for third place. Won rather easily. Time, 23 l-3rd sec. 80 Yakds Manx Race (under 14).— Thomson and Donald, 1. G. George and JTaulder aleo started. The race was won fairly easily, the winners running well together. 220vi)s School Handicap.—A. Holland, scratch, 1; H. Macky, Byds, 2; J. Dixon, 10yds, 3. Time, 24 3-sth sec. Tho race was a capital one, as tho time shows ; all the men got away together, and the finish was a close one. Junior Tug-of-War—Each team consisted of 10 men. Beeb out of 3 pulls— siden reversed. Captains : Ireland and Faulder. Ireland's team v.on tho first, pull, pulling hardest nil the time, fairly getting away with their opponents under Faulder. In the second round they al?o landed the opposing tsam over the line without much trouble. Pole Jump.—l. W. Pilkington, Bft 4in ; 2, F.
