POLICE COURT.-THIS DAY.
(Before Messrs S. Y. Collins and L. Ehren-
fried, justices.) Drunkenness. —Five first offenders wore each fined ss, or 24 hours in default. Annie Robertson was fined £3, or 14 days ia default, for having been drunk yesterday. No Lights.—Robert Lay burn and Percy Langton were each fined Is and costs for driving carts after dark without lights. Alleged Lakceny.: ■ — George Waters, Thomas Wheian, John Bennett Perez, and George Head appeared on remand to answer the charge of having on tho 12th of June at Te Kopuru stolen a cheque, valuo £10, the property of Eves and another. — Inspector Broham said he must ask for a further remand, as one witness had not arrived from the country.—Mr O'Meagher said he appeared for the defendants Head and Waters. Ho knew it was nobody's faulh thab the witness had not arrived, £0 he would not oppose the remand. —The Bench remanded the prisoners until Monday, bail-' being enlarged.
