CELEBRATIONS.

On May 25 the annual gathering of the Bands of Hope affiliated with the Auckland Band of Hope Union was held in the Choral Hall, and proved a very successful and enjoyable re-union. The audience was the largest seen in the Choral Hall for a very long time past. On the platform were seated the members of the Band of Hope choir, some four hundred strong, in charge of Mr S. Frith, together with the Chairman (Mr S. C. Brown, Mayor of Newtonl, Sir William Fox (Vice-President), Mr C. G. Hill (VicePresident), and the Rev. J. Berry. The following Bands of Hope were represented : —Beresford - street, Christian Standard Arch Hill, Arch Hill Wesleyan, Church of Christ, Ellerslie, Franklin Road, Grafton Road Wesleyan, Mount Eden, Newton Excelsior, Pitt-street Wesleyan, Poueoaby Baptist, Poneonby Wesleyan, Ruby (Parnell Congregational), * Sir Henry Haveloek, St. Andrew's, St. David's, Union • street Wesleyan, Tabernacle, and United Methodist Free Church. Towarde the close of the gathering a presentation of a handsome photographic shield was made to the Chriitfan Standard Band of Hope, on behalf of the Onion, this Band having won the largest number of prizes at the recent Band of Hope competitions in the Foreetere , Hall.
