ST. DAVID'S 'CONCERT.
The concert given in St. Sepulchre c Schoolroom last evening by the choir of bb. David's Church, assisted by several leading amateurs, was far above the average of such performances, and all concorned deserve to be congratulated upon the measure of success achierod. The hall irae crowded to overflowing, and the audience expressed their approval of the treat provided by insisting on numerous encores, which were in several instances responded bo, making the programme a very lengthy one. Two orchestral performances were excellently n aved by a band of instrumentalists Wer Sβ lead of Mr J- H. Phillpot, and a choir onducted by Mr J. G. Culpan 00-tabngd two choruses in creditable style. Mice £ Warren sang very nicely, "Ibe BonfS I'll Never Forget," and, in reeponie to a recall,'bowed Her acknowledgments. Mr Worrall contributed the song, IV morrow Will be Friday ' in g°°d style, and Mr Simms sang " 1 he Angel at the Window "very acceptab y. Mrs Kilgour Bane "Fetters of Gold" and « Waiting " admirably, and paid the penalty of success by having to respond to an encore in, each instance Mr Kekwick recited 'The Schoolmaster* Guests," with good effort, and, in response to a recall, save Ihe Fireman's Wedding," which was equally good. Mr J. Robert-eon sang Judee"On
Deck " very well, but his singing lacked energy, and Mr J. McGregor was heard to advantage in " The Gallants of England." A flute solo, " Souvenir de Venice," was very wellplayedbyMrF. Wilson, and Mias Buckland charmed fche audience with her interpretation of De Beriot's " Fifth Air," together with an encore piece which was equally well played on the violin. Mr Archdale Tayler sang " The Silver Cup" in finished style, and was loudly applauded, and the duet, " Fairy Wand," was admirably given by Mr and Mrs Atchdale Tayler. Miss Featon sang "II Baccio " very nicely, and in response to a recall sane " Robin Adair. ,, Miss Reid rendered "The Song That Reached My Heart " very effectively. The accompaniments were well played by Mr Phillpot, Mrs Tayler, and Miss Lester, and tho concert on the whole waa a most enjoyable one.
