THE ENGLISH BUDGET.
London, April 23.
The Budget was introduced in the House of Commons to-day. It shows the expenditure for the last year to have been while the receipts were which gives a surplus ot ;£i,879,000. The estimated revenue for the next year is and the expenditure The surplus will be wholly applied to assist education, the fees for which ceaae on September 1 st.
London, April 24,
The surplus in the Budget was chiefly derived from the increase of the duties on alcohol, tobacco, and tea.
