SR. PETER'S ANNIVERSARY.
A very pleasant time was passed last evening by those who attended tho fruit soireo in° connection with St. Peter's Presbyterian Sunday School, Surrey Hills. The building was crowded, seats having bo bo placed up the aisle. The end and sidos of tho room were tastefully decorated with mottoes, flowers, and evergreens. Unfortunately, the Rev. R. Sommervillo was prevented from attending in consequence of sickness in his family. The chair was therefore taken by the"Rev. R. F. Macnicol, who delivered a short address, as did also the Rev. G. 15. Monro later on in tho evening. A strong choir was in attendance, and rendered the following choruses in a manner thab refloated credit on the organist, Mr James McKerras :— "Victorious," "Ever Sing tho Love_ of Jesus," " Anniversary Greeting," "Ring the Joy Bells," " We Shall Know Each Obher There," and "Hail, all Hail." "The Song bhat Reached My Heart " was rendered in an acceptable manner by Miss McMillan. "Bonny Hills of Scotland " was sung by MrsEdmondes ; and Miss Tye was encored for bho song "Underthe Daisies," aud further favoured the audience with " Red Robin." MrH.McGibbon sang "The Clang of tho Hammer " in a manner that caused him to bo recalled, and Mr C. Marson sang " In Old Miss Webley recited an " E-say on Gates," and being enthusiastically recalled delivered "A Bachelor's Essay." This lady subsequently recited "Aunt Tabitha's Advice." Mies McClatchey officiated as accompanist in excellent style. During an interval fruit was handed round to all prosenb. At tho conclusion of the programme a vote of thanks was accorded all who had assisted, on the motion of Mr Watson. A request ha 3 been made that tho hymns should bo repeated again next Sunday.
