U.A.O. DRUIDS.
The firab meeting of the Ponsonby Lodge in bhe new lodge-room, Sb. George's Hall, was held on Monday evening, Arcli. Druid Bro. ; H. Bloxsom presiding. There was a good abtendance of members and visitors, including D.P. Bro. A. Kidd, Past Arches. Bros. W. Jennings and J. Strabhorn. Tho reporb from tho Friendly Societies' Conference was read, when it was unanimously agreed to give every assistance to tho proposal. An appeal from Timaru Lodgo in aid of families of bwo deceased brethren wa3 referred to D.P. Bro. Kidd. During the evening the Lodge adjourned) to harmony, and a pleasaub half-hour waa; spent. On resuming business four eandi-'. dates were proposed for initiation ab next 1 : meebing.
The Auckland Lodge of Druids held-a well-atbended meeting last evening ab the Cook-streeb Hall, A.D. Bro. W, Hunter presiding. A published, rer porb, in book form, of the pro; ceedings of tho Grand Lodge established in Christchurch was received. Thore are now eighteen lodges affiliated in Canterbury, and the reporb showed bhab greab progress was made by the Druids in thab province during the past year. An appeal for assistance to the families of two! deceased brothers, sent by Timaru Lodge, No. 152, was referred to tho D.P. (Bro. A. Kidd), who has favourably entertained 1 same, and placed a sum from the District! Presidenbs' Fund for bhe object. . The reporb submitted from the Friendly Societies': Conference, held recently in Auckland,! was nexb discussed, when bhe following resolution was carried unanimously :— "That the Auckland Lodge of Druids, unanimously approve of the reporb sub-! mifcted by the Friendly Societies' Conference, and desires to place on record its appreciation of the work down by the Committee, whose action, if endorsed by tbe various lodges, courbs, and branches, will have the effect of strongly cementing the friendship betweon the different sections, who are banded under the Friendly Societies Acb, and we will assist bo our utmosb bo carry out the condibions of tha report." A committee was appointed to arrange for a social in connection with the Order, fco work in conjunction with the Ponsonby Lodge. During the evening, the Lodge adjourned for harmony, when several wellselected songs were given by differentmembers. The cash receipts for tht: past Lodge nighb amounted bo £42 Gs.
