ENTKIES AND POSITIONS. * 1. jMaia(W. ,Koid), 4.!- tons. 2. Clio (T. Garnaut), 4 ; } tons. 5. Laurina (J. Fonnick), b tons. Out of the three boats the Ciio pot by far tho bsft start and hold it all tho way down tho harbour. The Laurina Boomed to be in excellent trim. She away second in order, tho Maia being last, clot;e iu-hore. Ail three had all sail set and spinnakers out. They kept oiose together going down the harbour, tho Clio leading ail the way by a short distance. Thy handicappers declared the handicaps shortly after the boats started as: — Laurina, scratch : Main, 10 minutes : Ciio, 15miriutes, Rounding the North Head at 11 a.m., the order was :— Ciio 1 Lnirrina ... ... ... ••• 2 ; Maia 3 I Coming up round the North Head aj*ain the beats were packed in a bunch, from which on the van up tho harbour tho Laurina separated, and drew ahead. Sho increased her lead steadily until pausing the Queen-street Whavf at 12.20 p.m. eho was nearly quarter-of-a-milo ahead; the Clio being second and the Maia third. The Laurina increased her lead on the running up the harbour, and rounded the Sugar Works marlcboat first fit 1.30 p.m., the lilaia beint: second and the Ciio third, both boats! being a long distance astern. Thu.-o positions wcro maintained on the run do« - ;i the- harbour for the second time. When wo went to prusa tho positions were.--Laurina ' Maia ... ... ... ••• 2 Clio ■•• 3
