DR. LAISHLEY'S FINANCIAL STATEMENTS.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —1 have read Dr. Laishley's financial statements with great regret, for they will do no good * but a-terrible amount of mischief amongst the more timid class of colonists. No doubt the doctor deserves credit for the trouble ho haa gone to in compiling such a mass of figures. . No doubt his motive is personal arid his object a seat in Parliament, but ho will never get there while he continues writing down the country. If he would show us a practical remedy, onewithsomecommonsonseinit, and with some show of carrying it out, then he might get a following. If the country is in such a bad sfcute, a3 the doctor says, then why does h« stop in it 1 ■ Why not clear out in place of trying to damage it in the outer world ? No good can come from such ac&ions, for New Zealand ia abl6 and willing to pay the interest on bar national debt notwithstanding Dr. Laishley's efforts to run the country down.—l am, etc.,
W. McKeever,
Onehunga.
