SYDNEY WHARF LABOURERS.

At the weekly meeting of the Sydney Wharf Labourers' Union last week the following letter was read from the A.U.S.N. "Co. :—" We have to advise you that at present and until furbher nobice the working hours at odr v/harf will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ; any time worked before or after those hours will be paid for as overtime. — Burns, Philp, and Co." Nearly the whole of the evening was Occupied in discussing the matter, and it was eventually decided unanimously bhab they could not accept the proposal, inasmuch as ib would be unfair bo other steamship owners, and ib would be impracticable to arrange different working hours for the various wharves. About 70 members were admitted at £5 5s entrance fee each.
