THE NGARUAWAHIA PUNT.

Hajjiltox, this day. D_* Tuesday evening, 25th March, some persons unknown cub tho punt-rope at Ngaruawahia ferry, letting the punt adrift. They also bored holes in the punt with an augur, and cut two or three bad openings jwith an axe. Tho punt was found lour miles down the river, between and Taupiri, sunk. The police pave been making inquiries and have, they pink, found the axe with Avhich the 'damage was done, there being some peculiar marks on the face of the same. The punt has only just been built by the Raglan County Council at a cost of £100. The Jlamages now done will amount to £20, and Jsj_s ropo may have to bo replaced. Pro/sseutions are sure to follow, and it is to be jtioped that tho perpetrators of the damage Will receive their due reward for tho crime.
