POLICE COURT.

(Before Mr S. Y. Collins, J.P.)

Drunkenness.—Five first offenders were punished in the usual way for this oHence, by being fined 5s and costs each, with the option of 24 hours' imprisonment. Maria McGuiness for a second offence was fined 10s and costs or 48 hours, while Mary Hamilton and Charles Duckinfield were fined £3 and costs with the option of 14 days' hard labour

Alleged Theft.—Duncan H. Stevens and Roger Lupton were charged that they did, on the 18th March, feloniously steal, take, and carry away two hides, value £4, the property of Frederick Ireland and another, and that on the 31st March they stole 7 hides, value £12, the property of the same parties.—Mr Theo. Cooper appeared for the accused and asked for a remand till to-morrow week, tho 11th inst. The application was granted, accused being admibtcd to bail in their own bonds of £50 each and bwo surebies each of £25.

Prohibition Order.—Mr F. G. Clayton having joined Mr Collins on tho Bench, an application was made by the wife of Alexander Hedley for a prohibition order against her husband. The order was granted, to have force for one year.
