SHOOTING MATCH.
"A" BATTERY V. WAIROA RIFLES.
On Saturday afternoon last a friendly shooting match took place at the Mount Eden range between teams of 15 a-side from the Wairoa Rifles and "A" Battery. The ranges were 200, 400, aud 500 yards. The visitors were beaten by 54 points ; their total being 898, while thab of the Battery was 952. The following were the scores .-—
In the evening the membersof the " A " Battery corps entertained the visitors at a smoke concerb in the Imperial Hotel, when a very pleasant eyening was spent. Captain Geddes, of the Battery, occupied the chair, and was supported on the righb by Captain Creighton, of the Rifles, and Honorary Captain Crawford, and on theleft by Major Payne. Captaia Kohn, of the City Guards, was also present. -The toast of the Wairoa Rifles was proposed by Captain Geddes, and responded bo by Captain Creighton, and later on the latter proposed the toast of the "A" Battery. The health of the Battery team that wenb to the Exhibition Rifle Meeting was also drunk, and thanks returned by Sergeanb Parslow. Songs were contributed during the evening by Capbain Hearne, Captain Geddes, Captain Kohn, Sergeanb Wilson, Sergeanb Parslow and obher3.
