EARL OF KINTORE.
DEPARTURE FOR AUSTRALIA
By the steamer Mararoa last evening His Excellency the Earl of Kintore, Governor of South Australia, with the Countess of Kintore, left for Sydney en route for Adelaide, after a stay of a few months in New Zealand. During"the stay here the Earl and Countess. have been the guests of His Excellency Lord Onslow. A guard of honour composed of the "A" and "0" Battories of Artillery, under command of Captain Geddes, and Lieutenants Haultain and Reid, with Lieu-tenant-Colonel Shepherd present, turned out to do honour to the departing visitors. The visitors marched down the wharf about half-past four o'clock, headed by Hunter's Artillery Band, and as Lord Kin tore and Lord Onslow arrived at the steamer in a carriage they were received with the customary honours, the guard presenting arms and the band playing the National Anthem. Before leaving in the Mararoa the Earl bade a cordial farewell to Lord Onslow and Mr J. Upton (Mayor), and as the vessel steamed away from the wharf, about six o'clock, three hearty cheers for the distinguished visitors were called for and given.
