POLICE COURT—THIS DAY.

Drunkksness. —Jane Goldsmith was fined £1, or 48 hours, for having been drunk.— John Murphy was fined £2 for having been drunk while in charge of a horse, or in default 48 hours' hard labour.

Alleheh Breaking and Entering. — Alfred Lindsay, Daniel Lindsay and Albert Lindsay, three little boye, were charged with having on the 15th of December broken into and entered the Turkish Baths and stolen therefrom goods to the value of 15s 10d, the same being the property of Richard Coghlan. —Inspector Broham appeared for the prosecution, and Mr J. A. Tole for the defendants, who pleaded not guilty.—As Albert Lindsay was only 6 years of age he was of course discharged from custody.—By consent the other two were remanded until nest Monday, bail being enlarged.

He stated thafc he had been living with his wife and family in the WaiUato. As his wife did not like to live in the country he went home to England to learu a trode ia order to live in tovvra and work for her. When he camo buck he got work at Napier and wrote to his wife to state that he would send her money. Her reply was to get him arrested for desertion. He had a permanent situation at Napier, if his wife would only go down there to stay. —Inspector Broham said that £7 10s was found on the man when arrested.—lt was agreed thab the money should be handed to the Board to pay the passage of the family down to Napier. Failing to Register Birth. — Alfred Harrie was charged with having failed to register the birth of his child within the time specified by the Act.—Mr Lord, Registrar, stated that the action was brought at the request of Mr Harris, in order to enable him to register the child. —A fine of 10s and coats was inflicted.
