The Auckland Racing Club are favoured with beautiful weather for their Spring Meeting this afternoon. There is a fairly good attendance on the course, but the grand stand is not patronised so well as usual. The course and its surroundings are looking at their very best, and the'-race track is in beautiful going order. Impey's band is on the ground and diacoursing sweet music, while Mr T. McEwen has provided a first-class luncheon in the grand stand dining-room. President's Handicap of 60sovs; second horse to receive lOsovs out of the Btakes. For three-year-olds and upwards. One mile.

When the flag fell Cartridge jumped away in front, followed by Fusee and Patchwork. At the cutting Cartridge was still in front v with Teksum third. Nearing the home turn, a sheet would have covered the field, but when the heads were fairly turned for home Patchwork was in front. An interesting struggle down the straight ended in a neck victory for Patchwork, half a length, separating the second ..and third horses. Teksum finished fourth. Time, linin 45sec. Dividends : Inside, £15 7s 6d; outside, £15 10s.

Also started:—Cambria, Priscilla, Queen Alice, and Eagerness. After three breaks away the flag fell, to a fair start. Mary was quickest into her stride, but before many yards had been traveresed Miss Cole took up the running and led till rounding the home turn. 'Mary then asserted herself, and although Miss Cole made a.big effort to get on terms, she was unable to beat the daughter of Nordenfeldt, who won easily by a couple of lengths, Priscilla was fourth. Time, lmin 6secs. Dividend—lnside, £112s; outside, £113s.
