The Crown Lands Board had a lengthy sitting to-day going through the list of settlers under the homestead and other systems of land settlement. It was decided to write to a large number inquiring why the conditions upon which the land had been .obtained had not been fulfilled. A number of other settlements were declared to .be forfeited. Proceedings had not concluded when we went to press. This afternoon the s.s. Hauroto leaves fo r the South with the following passengers :— For Wellington: Miss Smith, Messrs C. Boyd, J. Condon. For Lyttelton : Mr E. W. Page. For Dunedin: Messrs Sinclair, and 2 children, and 11 in steerage. Before 4 p.m. to-day the Ellis steamer Jubilee sails for the South, taking as passengers for Wellington Mesdames Lough, Eolis, Mr H. Taylor, and two fitesrage. For Dunedin : Miss N. Kerwin.
