SCOTCH CONCERT.
A very enjoyable concert of Scottish music was given in Sb. Andrew's Schoolroom, Symonds-street, lasb evening. The room was fairly well filled with an apprecitive audience, mostly Scotch, of course. Miss M. Chapman played a piano solo to open the concert. "Caller Herrin'," by the choir, followed ; then Miss Taylor sang very nicely " Jessie's Dream." Mr George sang "The Young Brigade" very effectively ; after which Misses George and Taifc and Messrs Taifc and Menzies sang a quartette, "My Love." Mrs Culpan gave very pleasingly, "Jack o' Hazeldean.' Mr Menzies was very well received in "A Man's a Man for a' That," and as an encore gave "The Wee German Lairdie," which caused greafc amusement, perhaps owing fco recent troubles over Royal grants. Mrs Harrop and Miss Taifc were encored for " The Rowan Tree." Mis*. Glover sang the ballad, " Rothesay Bay," and Mr Simpeon pleased everybody by his Highland Fling. Mr McKinney gave a reading, " The New Organ," and was followed by Miss Tizar, who sang " Mary of Argyle." Miss Harrop was recalled for " After Sundown," while Mr Menzies kepb up his reputation in " Macgregor's Gathering."- Mr Glover danced the sailors' hornpipe. Mrs Culpan and Miss Tait received great applause for their rendering of "John Anderson, My Jo." The choir also rendered several selections very nicely. Mr Culpan played most of fche accompaniments in a very efficient manner. The" good old Scotch song "Auld Lang Syne" concluded the entertainment.
