NATHAN'S NEW BLOCK.

Tenders have been received by Messrs E. Mahoney and Sons, architects, for a handsome new block of buildings to be erected for Messrs L. D. Nathan and Co. The block will take the place of the present Greyhound Hotel, at the corner of Queen-st. and Victoria-street East, and will extend to High-street. It will consist of a hotel (to be erected at the High-street corner), eight shops (including a large shop at the Queen-street corner), and a large warehouse at the back. The hotel will be three storeys in height, with basement, and it will be supplied with an elevator and many other modern improvements in furnishing. The warehouse will be three storeys high, and the rest of the block two stories. It will, no doubt, be a handsome pile of buildings, and will considerably improve the appearance of that part of the city. The following is a list of the tenders received : — Wm. Philcox and Son, £15,266; J. J. Holland, £15,085; Cleghorn and Rosser, £14,710 ; Nutt and Collier, £14,559; N. McLean and Co., £14,450; J. Ellingham, £14,450 ; James Heron, £14,433; Malcolm and Price, £14,149 ; C. M. Newson, £14,011; J. B. Blakie, £13,951 2s ; Geo. Rhodes, £12,900.
