BIJOU THEATRE AND PALACE

HOTEL DESTROYED

THREE FIREMEN KILLED,

Melbourne, April 22. A disastrous fire broke out at 5.30 this evening in the' Bijou Theatre, which, along with the Palace Hotel adjoining, were destroyed. The fire was still burning at 10 o'clock,-but was under control. The scarcity of water was severely felt, and the brigades were rendered helpless.

Three firemen were killed by falling walls, and three others were seriously injured. It is believed that the damage will exceed but owing to the holiday, no accurate information can be (obtained.
