FIRE AT ONEHUNGA.
A WOMAN ARRESTED.
At 3.36 o'clock yesterday afternoon a &r6 occurred at Onehunga, which destroyed a small two - roomed cobbage, sibuated in Inkerman-street. The house belonged to Mr Eli Brown, who occupied it in company with his wife, Mary Brown. It was estimated to be worth about £20, and was nob insured. When bhe fire was iirsb discovered, a number of neighbours assembled in order to render assistance, but owing to the scarcity of water nothing could be done. As the house was situated in the centre of an acre of land, there was no danger of the fire spreading to any adjacent building. Ab the time of the fire, Mr Brown was absentfrom town. Sergb. Greeneinvestigabed the circumstances, and ultimately arrested Mary Brown on suspicion of having set fire to tho house out of malice towards her husband. ..one of the effeebs in bhe house were saved. Mary Brown appeared ab bhe Onehunga Police Court to-day, wlien a remand was granted.
