THE TRUNK RAILWAY.

Our Hamilton correspondent writes:— The last rivet in the viaduct on the Trunk Line, at Waite'ti, was driven on Friday evening last by tho Government Inspector (Mr Chalmers). Mr Robertson, the contractors' agent, has been most successful with the work, and carried it out in good time and without an accident. The whole contract will be completed in the course of a month or six weeks.

The first heading at the Porotarau tunnel on this line is through, and now the work will progress much moro rapidly than hitherto.
