Messrs A. Dockland and Sons' Weekly Report.—At tho Haymarket during the past week prices oi loose fodder have been nominal; from S3 to 10s for small loads, and from 9d to Is 6d per cwt for large ones, have been the prices given. Sales of feeding grain have been limited —oats at 2s 9d, maize 2s lOd per bushel. At the Haymarket en Friday horses were yarded in full numbers, and generally of good quality. Riding horses were in fair demand, but farm horses scarcely inquired for ; those sold were at late values. On Tuesday hides scarcely maintained late values, with the exception of calf skins, which were in demand; for sheepskins, wool, full prices were given. At the cattle sale at Pukekohe on Monday, an unusual number of stock of all classes was yarded. Bidding was general throughout the sale, and an inquiry was manifested for dairy coy.3, and quiet heifers and steers were comparatively neglected. At Papakura on Wednesday a similar feeling was shown, dairy stock being in better inquiry than other descriptions. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were at low values. Store cattle: Plentiful, but prices arc lower than a month since, fully one-third. Fat cattle, in full numbers, maintained the values obtained for the past two weeks; steers, from Us to 16s; cows, lis to 13s the 1001b; averages tor steers ranged from £5 10.3 to £615s ; for cows, from £.'_a to £_ cacli. Sheep were in less than usual numbers, but scarcely kept late values, and a number were withdrawn. Lambs, plentiful, kept their values : prices ranged from 7. .n 13s each. Messrs Huntek and Nolan's Weebxt REPORT.—Hcvse feed, seeds, grain : There has been an average supply fiiici steady demand at the previous week's values. 'W re quote: Short feed oats, 2, 9d per bu-hel; Danish, 2s Sd ; Tartarian, 2s lJd; maize, 2s Cd per bushel; bran, £5 per ton; sharps, £4. Horses: There has been an increase in the activity noted in tho market Inst week, and those of a good stamp found ready purchasers, with an upward tendency in prices. A - goo:'. many were entered for disposal by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday. Bidding was spirited throughout the sale, and most of the lots were cleared at prices satisfactory to vendors. Hacks sold at from £5 to £14 10s; light-harness horses, from £12 to £1.4 10s; strong spring-cart horses, from £14 to £16 10s. Wool, hides, skins, and tallow: Hides were brought forward in _nu.k-r.ito numbers at the Durham Yards on Tuesday ; skins were plentiful; competition was brisk throughouv. We quote: 0--_ hides, at from 3;' dto 4_d per lb; cow, 2*.-d to old; calfskins, 3_d to 4id per lb; tallow. £11 10s per ton: sheepskins, 4s 6d to 5s 6d each ; pelts, 5d each; tallow, lis 6d to 15s 3d for first-class. Cattle: There hastoccnan improved demand for dairy stock, and a good many have been brought forward. Stores in more limited numbers without alteration in value. Fat beasts in adequate numbers, and steady demand at tho previous week's values. The Newmarket yards were fairly well filled on Tuesday, and steady competition was maintained throughout the sale, but there was no noteworthy alteration in values. Some averages' were: Cows, £3 _. 6d, f_ lis 3d £5 7s 6d: steers, £4 16s 3d; m 13s, £5 15s, £6, £6 lis 3d, £6 16s. Sheep : Barely an average number was penned at Newmarket on Tuesday, but the demand was brisk, without any material alterations in values. Wethers in wool, 15s ; shorn, 10s 6d to lis 9d: ewes, 8s 6d to 15s; shorn lambs were plentiful and well competed for, and sold at from 7s od to 13s. Pig 3 were in average supply. Well-bred stores and porkers sold relatively higher than coarse animals. Prices ranged from 2d to 3}d per lb live weight. There exists a demand for well-bred store pigs.
Messrs &. "W. Binney and Sons report that at their weekly sale of hides, skins, and tallow, a large catalogue was cleared at satisfactory prices. Id to 2d: salted pelts. 4d to 6d each. Tallow, 10s to 15s; bones, 4s 6d; shanks. 5s per cwt; potatoes (local), £4 to £4 5s ; Canterbury, £410s per ton.
