The barque signalled yesterday proved to . je-the star of the East., which was spoken jy '''.ne s.s. Wairaraf/a two or three clays f£ r ; off Port Charles windbound. Yesterday Lt'ternoon the barqtier arrived in harbour, in ! tow of the tn&r Awbimt, and at f the Railway Wharf. The Star of the East I is an American barque bound from New York, via Port Chalmers, to this port. After landing her Port Chalmers cargo •Captain H. Haveron reports that on Saturday, Octobsr , 6th, he hove up anchor and towed clear of Otajjo Heads ; at 10.30 Ota^o light bore W. by S., strong wind, from W-E, from thence toN.E. | Cape. Squally weather, wind south. .On Thursday 11th, 6.50 p.m., East Cape I Vas W. half S. ten miles, winds I and turned into a sale; could not make any headway. On Sunday, October j 14tb, at 6 p.m., the Barrier was W. by S. ; lieht N.S. winds and calm. On October 16th wind S.W., and continued so until taken in tow by the steam tug. The Star of the East brings a cargo of flour, wheat, etc., and is consigned to Messrs Arnold, Cheney, and Co.
