DEPARTMENT EXPLAIN

Wellington, this day. - With reference to a Napier telegram in this morning's paper, stating that the Government Insurance Department had refused to pay a policy of '£100 on the life of late late Percival Bear on the ground that he was insured as Percival Bear, while his name was really' James Percival Bear, we are authoritatively informed that the statement is incorrecb-the Department having merely asked for the usual proofs of death and identity. ______________—>—
