Communications have been passing fc«' tween Mr Duncan Gillies, Premier of Victoria, and other colonial Governments witii reference to the survey of the Pacific cable l'outc. The British Admiralty have consented to employ a second vessel in the work; but even with this, tho survey will not bo completed for' two yexrs. Mr Gillies is anxious to secure the assistance of a third vessel, the Victorian Government being willing to share the cost of su&h third vessel. The Imperial Government and the Governments of Canada and other BV'ltish colonies are being asked to contribute.
