GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE
MEETING.
The concluding events yesterday resulted :— Ladies' Bracelet, of 75sovs. Two miles. Mrs J. B. Williamson's Shillelagh, list 71b (Boyle) 1 Mrs J. Ryan's Reuben, lOsb 31b (Woodman) 2 Mrs Rutherford's Wire-in, list 101b (G. Cox) 3 Iceman, Sykes, Tyrant, Securus, Highland Chief, and Ivanhoe also started. Shillelagh and Reuben came right away from their field at the distance, and the Jatter having the best ol the struggle home, won cleverly by two lengths. Time, 3min. 57sec. Dividends : Inside, £2 19s ; outside, £4 Is.
Maiden Steeplechase, of lOOsovs. Mr D. Rutherford's Landsborough, llsfa (Rudings) 1 Mr J. B. Williamson's Shillelagh, list lib (Hadneld) 2 Mr T. Stewart's Playboy, 12st 3lb (Kingham) ... ... ... ■ ... 3 Sawdust, Mexico, Piccaninny, Gunpowder, Squib and Haka also ran. Landsborough was first into the straight, closely followed by Playboy, when Shillelagh, taking his jumps cleverly, challenged, and the trio raced home neck and neck. The judge gave a head verdict for Landsborough, which the public very noi.sly disputed, and subsequently a protest laid by the owner of Mexioa against Landsborough, for going round one fence, was beard and dismissed. Time, 4min. 38sec. Dividends : Inside, £9 16s ; outside, £19 Bs. Tally-ho Handicap, of 120sovs. Two miles and a-haU. Mr D. Rutherford's Irish King, list (Kingham) ... ... ... ... 1 Mr F. J. Bradley's Isaac, lOst 71b (McGuinness)... ... ... ... ... 2 Mr J. W. H. Keith's Waitangi, 9sb lib (A. Keith) 3 Kangaroo (list 51b) and Artist (9st) also ran. Artist led for the first mile, pulling hard, Irish King holding the second place. Afc the znile and a-half post Isaac went up, and displaced the latter, and this order was maintained until opposite Ford's, where Artist fell, and rolled over Hadfield, who was removed from the course unconscious. Isaac led into the straight, but in jumping tho last fence fell, and Irish King came away and won. McGuinness remounted Isaac, and secured second place. Waitangi was a bad third. Dividends : Inside, £2 11s ; outside, £2 Bs. Selling Steeplechase, of 50sovs. Two miles. Mr J. H. Bowre's Master Guy, 10s 101b (owner) 1 Mr J. Kerr's Linwood and Mr T. Kearney's Ravenswood were the only other •starters, bub were distanced. Dividend, £2 6s. In the Grand National Steeplechase, Chemist balked at two different obstacles.
