A DOCTOR ARRESTED,

(by telegraph.—press association.)

Inveiicargill, this clay. On the arrival of the Manapouri at the Bluff yesterday, Dr. W. H. Gano was arrested on a charge of wife desertion at Christchurch. A DEFAULTING OFFICIAL. G. F. Dijonbox, for many years Town Clerk of North Invercargill, was charged at theR.M. Court with embezzling eighteen shillings. He is remanded till Tuesday, bail being refused, the Crown Prosecutor stating the total defalcations of the prisoner were very large.
