Wellington, this day. PROFESSOR THOMAS.
Professor Thomas arrived from Auckland yesterday, and had an interview to-day with the Minister of Lands relative to his report on the best means of eradicating sheep fluke in the Wairarapa. He left for Carterton this afternoon, and expects to be able to leave for Auckland by the West Coast about next Saturday. MANUKAU HARBOUR-MASTER. " A number of applications have been received by the Marine Department for the position of Harbour-Master of Manukau. THE ORETI CASES. The Oreti cases are not quite finished yet. The amount of costs is disputed by Mr Waller, and on his application the question is not to be decided until Wednesday week.

The gate money during the English Cricket Match was £179. The Englishmen take 10 per cent.
£24 were collected yesterday in aid of the Norsewood sufierers on Basin Keserve, where the Garrison Band played. The delegates of the Industrial Conference have not yet completed their labour. The tariff proposals are still under consideration.
