KICKED BY A HORSE.

Last evening, Mr F. Renshaw, of the firm of F. and C. T. Ranshaw, Mount Eden laboratory, received a severe kick on the lower jaw from a horse belonging to them. The accident occurred in the following manner:—-He was leading the horse, which is a cream colour, of powerful build, to the stable, when it suddenly jumped forward, launching out at the same time with both hind feet, with the above result. Fortunately, Mr C. T. Renshaw (his brother) was on the premises at the time, and after ascertaining that the jaw was not broken, he proceeded at once to bathe and stitch up the ivound, as tho gash was of such a nature that the flesh was hanging down, while a judicious application of their " Monarch of Pain " relieved the excessive pain and stiffness in the neck and jaws caused by the force of the blow. If the kick had been half-an-inch higher, the lower jaw would most certainly have been smashed, but, fortunately, this was not the case. After a good night's rest, Mr Renshaw was able to resume his duties this morning with the injured part bandaged up.
