POLICE COURT.-THIS DAY.
(Before H. G. Seth Smith, Esq., KM.) Drunkenness. — James French was fined 10s and costs for a second offence, and three others were fined 5s and costs for first offences. .
Obscene Language.—David Stewart was charged with allowing a horse to wander in Queen-street, and also with using obscene language.—He did not put in an appearance, and a warrant was ordered to be issued for his arrest.
By-Law Cases.—A large number of these cases were disposed of as follows: —Alfred Jury pleaded guilty to failing to provide sufficient light on a suaffoldins in Rokebystreet, and was fined 10s and costs. Patrick Gleeson pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to keep a quantity of bricks deposited in Hobson-street lighted, and was fined 10s and costs. Arthur Cooper was charged with wilfully obstruct ivj Tlobson - street footpath by depositing ' iiuber there. —He pleaded not guilty, tii.il stated that he never put the timber there himself. Evidence was given by Sergeant Kiely and Constables liowles and Keeny, and a fine of 20e and costs was imposed. Samuel Sheldon and Henry Mion were charged with failing to keep a hoarding in Hobsonstreet sufficiently lighted on tho night of the 4th.—Defendants pleadedthatthe lamps were extinguished by stormy weather, and were fined 5s and costs.
